Attachment Parenting Month is celebrated

October is a month of many celebrations to us! Yes, it is definately the month in our office to celebrate you - our amazing Practice Members - and the births of so many beautiful new little ones (practice members and close friends) made us feel like we had to share that it is Attachment Parenting Month.

Attachment Parenting International  (www.attachmentparenting.org) is celebrating the month of October and the organization is a wonderful resourse that we think everyone should have the chance to be familiar with when making their choices about how to be a parent.  Please remember that to us, its all about getting the info and finding what resonates with you - and that is what is best for your family.

So what is attachment parenting? Many of you in our practice are well versed and have already chosen to parent this way. But for those of you that have not even heard of it,  the essence of AP parenting is defined by the API as “forming and nurturing strong connections between parents and their children - and it challenges us as parents to treat our children with kindness, respect and dignity, and to model in our interactions with them the way we’d like them to interact with others”.

We feel that AP parenting is getting to really know your child (and how different they all are) and treating them in a way that is effective for them, as individulas, to form a strong, long lasting connection with you, others and themselves. This connection then impowers them to become wonderful, secure human beings now and later in life. The API web site list 8 basic principles that are definatley worth looking at and I so encourage you to take a few min. and take a peak at the website. Dr. Sears website (www.askdrbob.com) has great info also.

Kira Nevaeh with her friend Danika & 2 day old  Julianna Sunshine

We have found the AP way of parenting to be a wonderful fit for our family. Kira Nevaeh is a happy, healthy ”attached” little one. We as parents have such a responsibility to be conscious of how we choose to raise these beautiful little souls that we have been blessed with. And we know and admit that it is not always easy. Thats why we searched for a conscious way to parent that fit for our lifestyle.

As we sat with our dear friends beautiful 2 day old baby a couple of days ago, and as we adjust those wonderful little ones the first days of their lives, this message is always so confirmed to me. Lets be responsible with our parenting actions and know that our choices set up the patterns for a lifetime. Looking into their little eyes, we can see they come to us perfect, peaceful and trusting our guidance. So however we choose to parent - we must  make it a conscious effort.

Love and blessings…..

October is Patient Appreciation Month

Go to fullsize image

“To Keep the body in good healthy is a duty, for otherwise we shall not be able to trim the lamp of wisdom and keep our mind wise strong and clear. Water surrounds the lotus flower, but does not wet its petal.”        ~ Buddha

What can we say beside we appreciate our family of chiropractic practice members so much for taking care of their body, mind and spirit. That is why we have made October a time for us to say thank you!

Enjoy $10 off a one hour massage!

Most of you already know the extreme benefits of therapeutic massage. Besides the very much known of decreasing stress and just making you feel wonderful, it also has the powerful health benefits of increasing circulation, releasing lactic acid out of tissues and increasing lymph flow. Your chiropractic adjustment supports the nerves controlling how tight (or relaxed) the muscles are so massage and your adjustment together is the ideal care plan to support your body! We hope if you have never experienced massage in our office this will be a great opportunity or if you support yourself regularly with massage - enjoy the discount!

Family and friends are 50% off their first exam.

We have found that a family and friends that are caring for themselves together seem to get healthier faster and stay healthier! Maybe it is the “pack mentality”, who really can exactly explain it? But we feel, and see it all the time, that surrounding yourself with others that are on the same path will support you in your goals faster.

Receive $10 off for referring a family member or friend into our office.

We feel thinking of others and their health should be rewarded. It is a big compliment that you trust us with your family and friends health care. We look forward to caring as well for them  as we do you!

October, and the shift in season is a wonderful thing here in Encinitas. Thinking back to Oct of last year and remembering how all of San Diego came together during the fires makes you remember that we are a fantastic community. We feel so blessed to think of all of you as our extended family.  We hope you take advantage of these savings and know how much you are appreciated by us!

Our Team Grows and Changes

Go to fullsize imageWith change comes growth. We truly believe that. Just like in life, whenever shifts happen in the office we always see an “awakening” in potential within ourselves and our practice members.

What an exciting end of the summer/start of fall for us! Our team in the office are so very important to us. All of us together are what creates a strong team for you to say healthy or get well.  We so welcome the addition of Jacqueline, Josh and Christi to our team and family that will help care for you!

Jacqueline comes to us to help run our front desk and to become an amazing CA (Chiropractic Assistant). She has a background/education in communications and we can already see her huge contributions in the office. She is showing her amazing competency at the front desk and her connections with our practice members was seen immediate! She is such a ”people person” and is looking forward to getting to know all of you on a deeper level to help in anyway she can.  We feel so blessed to have her aiding in your care in the office.

Josh and Christi have both joined our massage therapist team. We know that their skills and warmth will be immediately felt and appreciated by you as much as we appreciate them.

Josh has an amazing skill of deep therapeutic, sports massage work while also a gentleness in his energy and trained in many other forms of massage including the softest, yet effective pregnancy massage. Christi has wonderful hands and is trained in many disciplines of massage including therapeutic, body flush and thai massage. We know you will love them both as much as we do!

The combination of chiropractic adjustments with therapeutic massage is so important in the overall tone and health of the body. We are lucky to have them available to care for you.

Back to school/Season changes Stresses

September and the end of summer is here.  For so many of our practice members and their families, this means a complete change in schedule, the stress of new environments and possibly one of the most hard things to admit - the end of summer in Encinitas, as we know it. Gone is sleeping in and waiting for the fog to burn off (for those of you young enough to not have to work), enjoying sunsets on the beach after work and soaking up the summer energy.

It’s important to remember that during this time, stress is something that can creep up on you if you don’t consciously think about it.  Most schedules will change with kids starting school and the sun setting earlier… try not to let this rule your life.  Keep your perspective of what it takes to keep you and your family healthy ( physically, mentally and spiritually).

Physically - If you are used to working out daily, fit it in.  Even if the timing is cut in half - be happy with that and know that as things settle down to the new routines it will get back to what it was.  Stick to your regular chiropractic adjustment visits for you and your family. Know that keeping your nervous system healthy will  prevent you from adding stress to your body and allow you to adapt better when it comes up.  Take your supplements and make sure that your kids are taking them too (ask us about some extra immune booster supplements for added stress) and fuel your body well. Don’t fall into bad eating habits just because your schedule gets busier. Think organic, decrease alcohol and caffeine and increase your water!

Mentally - take time out of your day to stop, relax and breath!  It may take a bit of time to fall into that new rhythm of fall, but it will happen. When stress increases your breath gets more shallow and fast. Deep breathing oxygenates the entire body (including the brain), so be conscious that you are breathing slowly and deeply.

Spiritually - don’t loose that connection to whatever you hold dearest to your heart.  A 5 min. meditation (if you are extremely busy) can change your entire state of being. Take it from us, having a 3 year old you become a master to the 5 min. meditaton at times.  Don’t be hard on yourself for not getting to your meditation or prayers and feel blessed that you are connecting when you can.  Stay aware and be connected as you go through your daily routine.

Summer is gone, but remember what lays ahead. Fall in Encinitas brings many wonderful and beautiful Sept/Oct. days and gorgeous sunsets (without the crowds). Enjoy and focus on the changes of our families growing up, our lives filling up and most of all the many blessings that everyday brings.
