What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a natural art and science established by DD Palmer in 1895. It is a completely drug free form of health care that looks to the spine to maintain the health of the nervous system (and therefore health of the entire body) through proper alignment of the spine and cranial bones.

Nerve interference promotes sickness and disease, decreased performance and improper functioning of all body organ systems. Correcting nerve interference is the true purpose of chiropractic.

The spinal column consists of 24 moveable bones called vertebrae. All nerves from the brain travel down this row of interlocking bones and branch off and pass through openings along the spine to get to their destinations.

Occasionally, one or more of the vertebrae move out of alignment. We call this a subluxation. When misalignment of these vertebrae occurs, the spinal openings narrow and distort the nerve’s ability to function properly.

If the nerve flow is disrupted because of nerve interference, chemical imbalances occur, and the body will function less efficiently. Proper nerve control is essential for all body functions, including all organ control, immune response, muscle control and chemical and hormonal balances.

The chiropractic adjustment allows the vertebrae to move back into its proper alignment. In turn, this allows the proper flow of neural impulses to be restored, and the body is able to function at 100%.

The obvious outcome of the chiropractic adjustment may be a relief in symptoms, an increase in performance or an overall sense of better well being. The true outcome of the chiropractic adjustment, however, is that the body’s nervous system functions at 100%. The final outcome of that is a better, healthier body and life from the inside out!

The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.
